Summer Flight Night

Home >> Experience >> Summer Flight Night

The summer is the perfect time for entertaining guests, which is exactly why we've created our sizzling Summer Flight Night demonstration! This out-of-hours evening event is our invitation to owl and bird of prey enthusiasts of all ages to enjoy a night of food, fun and feathered friends within the centre's surroundings.

As well as an exclusive extended flying demonstration featuring the incredible range of species in the centre's display team, your ticket also includes a main meal and refreshments - plus an opportunity to visit our collection of over 60 owls and birds of prey - making it the perfect way for your friends and family to experience everything Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre has to offer!

When is it?

New dates for our Summer Flight Night will be announced next year for our 2025 season.

This is a special evening event which will run outside of our regular opening hours from 5:00pm - 8:00pm (main flying demonstration event to finish 7:15 - 7:30pm approx. followed by an opportunity to browse the collection until 8:00pm.)

What is It?

You could think of our Summer Flight Night as the ultimate version of our usual flying demonstration - an extended, action-packed spectacle involving an exciting range of owl and bird of prey species from the centre's collection doing what they do best!

The session will kick off with the first half of our display, with engaging commentary from our falconry team focusing on how each bird is uniquely adapted for its own style of flight. The takeoff platform will allow you to experience their power and majesty up close as they swoop right over your head. Over the course of the evening, you'll be introduced to owls, falcons, eagles and more - plus a few other surprises too!

Half way through, we'll take a break for food and refreshments - a pulled pork burger for adults and chicken nuggets for children (a vegan/vegetarian alternative will also be available).

Following the refreshment break, we'll continue with the second half of the display, after which there will be an opportunity to walk around the collection and meet the rest of our birds.

Anything Else I Need to Know?

1) Access to Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre (and therefore to this event) is via Baytree Garden Centre.

The start time for this event (5:00pm) is also the closing time for the garden centre. Allowing for travel, we therefore recommend arriving at least 30 minutes prior to the event’s start time (4:30pm). On arrival, please enter through Baytree Garden Centre’s main entrance; there will be a sign outside Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre signifying where to wait. More detailed directions will be e-mailed prior to the event.

2) Whilst we intend for this event to be hosted outdoors where possible, it will not be cancelled due to inclement weather and you will still be expected to attend unless informed otherwise. As such, certain features of the demonstration may be weather-permitting where use of the indoor flying arena is required.

3) Further to the above, providing that the event is able to hosted outdoors, we strongly recommend that adequate sun protection is worn whilst on the outdoor flying arena.

4) Photography will be allowed during this event. However, we politely request that no flash is used. This may require adjusting your camera setup to the lighting conditions on the day of the event.

5) There will be an opportunity to walk around the BOWC collection as part of this event. However visitors will not be able to access any areas of Baytree Garden Centre. (Note that as Baytree Garden Centre closes at 5pm, guests may wish to browse the garden centre prior to the start of the event.)

6) We will be providing a single alternative of a vegan burger for those with particular dietary requirements (vegan/vegetarian). Gluten-free rolls will also be available. If you have any specific allergens we should be aware of, you should notify us of these in writing (e.g. e-mail) prior to the event)

7) Children aged 0-2 will not be allocated a main meal (as their tickets are provided free of charge). However, subject to availability, extra chips and chicken nuggets may be available on request.

8) Full terms & conditions for this event can be found on our booking website.
