Baby Day

Home >> Visit >> Baby Day

Spring is the season of new life - and Baytree Owl and Wildlife Centre is no exception! Every year, the centre successfully breeds up to 100 babies, many of which will go on to other centres to be a part of important conservational or educational work. So, whilst they are only with us a short time of their lives, they are an incredibly important part of the centre's operation - and are therefore an aspect worth celebrating during the peak of our breeding season!

When is it?

Baby Day will be taking place on Monday the 6th of May 2024 and Monday the 27th May 2024.

This full-day event will run between our regular opening hours from 10:00am - 4:00pm (last admission at 3:00pm.)

What is It?

Whilst our babies are usually only observable through the window of our brooder room, for two days only they will be temporarily relocated to our polytunnel, allowing you an exclusive opportunity to observe them up close*.

As a result of an owl's fast growth rate, you'll be able to see babies at all stages of development, from tiny chicks fresh out of the egg to big bundles of fluff.

Throughout the day, we'll be holding two engaging keeper talks at 10:45am and 2:45pm to explain the hatching and rearing process in depth, with an opportunity to find out about each species and ask questions.

Of course, you'll still be able to browse our collection of over 60 owls and birds of prey, plus watch our daily flying demonstration - showing twice daily at 11:15am and 1:30pm!

*During talk times only
